Owners Josh Tyra and Brian Miskowic have spent more than a decade together building luxury outdoor spaces for residents of Minnesota. They are stewards for the environment and believe outdoor living is at the very core of Minnesota culture. Josh and Brian don't believe in cookie-cutter projects or shortcuts and the result is hundreds of happy customers who are making more memories in their new outdoor spaces.
After years helping family and friends with side projects, they realized that there was a gap between traditional landscape companies and DIYers. Minnesota Patio Guys realized that DIYers want to take part in the build of their own hardscapes, but don't necessarily have the knowledge or access to materials and equipment to do it well and with confidence. The service tiers are built specifically with all types of homeowners in mind. Whether you're a DIY pro, or a novice, we've got you covered. And, if you're the hands-off type, don't worry — we can do that too.

Josh Tyra
Josh's career in landscaping started as a teenager working as an irrigation technician. He then spent a few years working at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN maintaining the 50+ soccer fields and 18-hole golf course.
Josh attended the University of Minnesota where he received his BS in Environmental Horticulture with an emphasis in Landscape Design and Turfgrass Management.
While in college, he and another student started a landscape company that grew into a multi-million dollar company with more than two-dozen employees. He remained COO for more than 12 years until 2020 when he decided to start Minnesota Patio Guys with his former colleague and friend, Brian.
Josh lives in Blaine with his wife and two daughters. As a family, they spend lots of time playing outside and fishing at the cabin.
Brian Miskowic
Brian started his landscape career when he was in middle school while helping his neighbors with yard work and miscellaneous landscape projects. He soon became notorious among the neighborhood and became the go-to guy for anything from cutting grass to designing new plant beds.
Brian received an Associates Degree in Landscape, Horticulture, Greenhouse and Urban Forestry from Hennepin Tech. Shortly after earning his degree, he started working at a landscape company where he was a senior foreman for 10 years.
He then went on to work as an apprentice for an electric company for 3 years before he and Josh started Minnesota Patio Guys.
Brian and his wife are always outdoors. They love camping, hiking fishing and spending time with family and friends at the cabin.
